Gardening Project of the Junior High School

Day Care – Ages 2 to 3 years
Focus: Safety, play, social skills, and early development
Core Areas:

  • Personal & Social Development: Sharing, independence, toilet training, manners
  • Communication & Language: Listening, vocabulary, singing, rhymes, story time
  • Physical Development: Fine motor skills with playdough, drawing, outdoor play
  • Creative Arts: Music, dancing, coloring, craft activities
  • Cognitive Play: Puzzles, sorting shapes/colors, counting 1-10

Kindergarten – Ages 4 to 5 years
Focus: School readiness for Lower Basic
Core Subjects:

  • Literacy: Letter recognition A-Z, phonics, writing own name, pre-reading
  • Numeracy: Counting 1-50, number writing, addition/subtraction with objects, shapes, patterns
  • Science & Discovery: Plants, animals, weather, senses, simple experiments
  • Creative Arts: Drawing, painting, music, drama, role play
  • Social & Moral Education: Respect, honesty, teamwork, Gambian values
  • Physical Education: Running, jumping, coordination games

Primary – Grades 1 to 6, Ages 6 to 12 years
Follows the Gambian Lower + Upper Basic curriculum from MoBSE
Core Subjects:

  1. English Language: Reading comprehension, grammar, writing, spelling, oral skills
  2. Mathematics: Whole numbers, fractions, decimals, measurement, geometry, problem solving
  3. Science: Living things, materials, forces, earth & space, health education
  4. Social & Environmental Studies: The Gambia’s history, geography, culture, citizenship, environment
  5. ICT/Computer Studies: Basic typing, mouse skills, introduction to computers ( pastor pls modify here)
  6. Creative Arts: Art, music, drama
  7. Physical & Health Education: Sports, games, hygiene, nutrition

Assessment: Continuous tests, term exams, mock exams National Assessment Test

Junior School – Grades 7 to 9, Ages 12 to 15 years

Follows Gambian Upper Basic curriculum. Prepares students for High School
Core Subjects:

  1. English Language
  2. Mathematics
  3. Science – Physics, Chemistry, Biology combined
  4. Social & Environmental Studies – History, Geography, Citizenship
  5. Religious & Moral Education
  6. French – compulsory in Upper Basic
  7. Information & Communication Technology –
  8. Agricultural Science
  9. Home Economics / Technical Drawing
  10. Creative Arts + Physical Education

Assessment: Termly exams + Grade 9 GABECE for Senior Secondary placement
